Life

Founding member of Deepdene Cricket Club: http://www.deepdenebears.com/uploads/WISDENE%202011-2012%20-%20FINAL%20_updated%2021-01-2013_.pdf (possibly also son?) He had played cricket competitively for almost his entire life, including while still in England. During this time, he played alongside many famous cricketers and other personalities, including H. G. Wells.[6]

Politics

Latham was instrumental in agitating for the construction of the Camberwell Fresh Food Market in 1928, along with fellow councillor and businessman Harry Rooks. He moved a motion to construct such a market in Camberwell, but this failed due to absent councillors. Despite this setback, plans were drawn up and the market constructed in the following year.[7]

He was defeated in a landslide by Henry Leigh at the 1933 elections by a margin of 26.2 percent. This was said to be the result of years of local cricitism of Camberwell Council over rate valuations and road construction.[8]
