Burke Road is a major north-south arterial road traversing several suburbs of Boroondara. It connects to Ivanhoe East in the north and Malvern in the south.

Etymology

Burke Road was named for Robert O'Hara Burke, an Australian explorer who died on an ill-fated expedition to travel from the north to south coasts of Australia.[1] It was formerly known by a variety of different names, including Glass' Creek Road, Boundary Road and New Cross Road.[1]
